Adding a Controller
Controllers are the top-level hardware devices in Supracontrol. Two device families are supported: Supracontrol devices (identified by a hardware key) and Modbus devices (identified by an IP address and port).
Path: Devices → Controllers → Add
Adding a Supracontrol device
Open the Controllers view
Navigate to the Devices module and click Controllers.
Click Add
Click the Add (+) button in the toolbar. The Add Device dialog opens.
Select Supracontrol device
In the Device type dropdown, select Supracontrol device.
Enter the device key
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Device key | Yes | The hardware key (Shash) printed on the device. Enter as 32 consecutive hex characters or in the dashed 8-8-8-8 format (four groups of 8 hex characters) |
Validate the key
Click Check address. Supracontrol validates the key against the backend and auto-fills the device Name, Type, and Serial number if the key is recognised.
Select a location
Expand the location tree and select the location this controller should be assigned to. Save is blocked until a location is selected.
Save
Click Save. The device is added. If the backend returns a licence note, a follow-up dialog displays it.
The device initially appears with New status (blue badge). See Clearing the New status below to commission it.
Adding a Modbus device
Open the Add Device dialog
Navigate to Devices → Controllers and click the Add (+) button.
Select Modbus device
In the Device type dropdown, select Modbus device.
Enter connection details
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| IP / Host address | Yes | The network address of the Modbus device |
| Port | Yes | The TCP port the Modbus device listens on |
Validate the address
Click Check address to confirm the connection and auto-fill device details.
Select a location and save
Pick a location from the tree and click Save.
Clearing the New status
A newly added device starts with a New status badge (blue) and must be commissioned before it operates normally.
- Select the device(s) in the Controllers grid. All selected devices must be in New status.
- Click Clear New in the toolbar.
- The device status changes to Online and it is fully commissioned.
Deleting a controller
Select one or more controllers in the grid and click Delete in the toolbar. Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Deletion is permanent
Deleting a controller removes it and all its configuration from Supracontrol. All sensors and BUS devices attached to it are also removed. This cannot be undone.
