Controller Settings
The Device Settings dialog lets you configure a controller’s name, location, time settings, power inputs, network configuration, GPRS connectivity, and communication channels.
Path: Devices → Controllers → select a device → Settings
Opening device settings
Select one or more controllers in the Controllers grid and click the Settings button in the toolbar.
- Single device - the full settings dialog opens with all available tabs.
- Multiple devices - the bulk edit dialog opens with a reduced field set. See Bulk editing below.
General tab
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Display name for this controller |
| Description | Optional notes |
| Location | Assign the controller to a location in the hierarchy |
| Time zone | The time zone the device uses for timestamps and scheduling |
| NTP URL | Network Time Protocol server address for automatic clock synchronisation |
| DST enabled | Enable or disable daylight saving time adjustments |
| PoE / PPS / SPS / BAT | Enable or disable each power input supply independently |
Sync DB
The Sync DB button forces the controller to re-synchronise its configuration from the Supracontrol database. Use this after making configuration changes that the device has not yet applied, or when a device loses sync after a network interruption.
Network tab
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| DHCP | Enable to have the device obtain its IP address automatically. Disable to configure a static address |
| IP address | Static IP address (when DHCP is off) |
| Subnet mask | Network subnet mask (when DHCP is off) |
| Gateway | Default gateway address (when DHCP is off) |
| DNS 1 / DNS 2 | Primary and secondary DNS server addresses (when DHCP is off) |
| NetBIOS name | Network name broadcast via NetBIOS (when DHCP is off) |
| MAC address | The device’s hardware MAC address - read-only |
Network changes apply to the device first
Saving network settings sends the new configuration to the controller hardware before applying general settings. A confirmation dialog appears before the changes are sent. Incorrect network settings can make the device unreachable - verify the values carefully before confirming.
GPRS tab
The GPRS tab is shown only when the controller has a cellular module.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Turned on | Enable or disable the cellular link |
| APN | The carrier’s Access Point Name |
| Username | APN authentication username (if required by the carrier) |
| Password | APN authentication password (if required by the carrier) |
| Signal info | Read-only: current RSSI, BER, and mobile operator (shown when the link is active) |
Channels tab
The Channels tab is shown only when the controller exposes communication channels such as serial bus ports.
For each channel:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Baudrate | Communication speed: 9600, 14400, 19200, 38400, 57600, or 115200 bps |
| Protocol | The protocol used to communicate with devices on this channel |
GPRS Info dialog
To view the current cellular link status without opening full settings, select a controller with an active GPRS connection and click GPRS Info in the toolbar. The read-only dialog shows: IP address, RSSI, BER, firmware version, IMEI, and mobile operator.
Bulk editing
When multiple controllers are selected, the bulk edit dialog restricts editable fields to those that can safely be applied across all selected devices:
| Field | Bulk editable |
|---|---|
| Location | Yes - optionally cascade to all attached peripherals |
| Time zone | Yes |
| NTP URL | Yes |
| DST | Yes |
| DHCP on/off | Yes |
| Power inputs | Yes |
| Network details (IP, subnet, DNS, etc.) | No |
| GPRS settings | No |
| Channel settings | No |
Enable Apply location change to peripherals to cascade the new location to all sensors attached to the selected controllers.
